Chairperson Engel called the Public Hearing to order at 6:15 p.m.

Chairperson Engel reviewed that Epoch Arts will be applying for an EPA Cleanup Grant for 25-27 Skinner Street with assistance from the Brownfields Steering Committee and public comment will be heard regarding the application.

Dan Wolfram, Chairman of the Brownfields Steering Committee, reported that Epoch Arts asked the Committee to assist them in applying for a cleanup grant for their property.  A requirement of the application is a public hearing.  Mr. Wolfram thanked the Town Council for allowing the public hearing to be held at their meeting.  A legal notice was posted in the Rivereast News Bulletin on Friday, October 31, 2008 noticing the Public Hearing.  No written comments were received to date.

Public Comments:
Elizabeth Namen, Artistic Director of Epoch Arts, noted that the building is perfect for their use and want to improve and preserve the building.

Britta Gustafson, Barton Hill Road, commented that Epoch Arts is good for the town but is so much more.  There are so many young people that benefit from Epoch Arts, like a home away from home.  If Epoch Arts can grow it is very good for the youth of the town.

Michelle Epstein, 17 Sherry Drive, noted there is a show this weekend at Epoch Arts.  It is a good atmosphere for the young people that attend.

A motion was made by Mr. Goff, seconded by Mr. Cordeiro, to close the public hearing at 6:25 p.m.  Voted (6-0).

A motion was made by Mr. Tuttle, seconded by Mr. Cordeiro to adjourn the meeting at 6:25 p.m.  Voted (6-0).

Respectfully submitted,

Cathy Sirois
Recording Secretary
